Sugar – What Is It?

Sugar is a sweet substance that is made from sucrose, which is a combination of glucose and fructose. It is also known as saccharose or lactose. The main source of sugar in our diet is processed foods and drinks, such as white bread, white rice, white pasta, white potatoes, and other processed foods.

In our body, sugar is broken down into glucose, which is then used by the cells to produce energy. This is called glycolysis. The excess glucose produced is stored in the liver as glycogen. Glycogen is then released back into the blood stream when needed for energy.

When there is an abundance of sugar in our blood, it can be converted into fat and stored in our fat cells. When this happens, we have a condition called hyperglycemia, which is a high level of sugar in the blood.

Hyperglycemia occurs when the pancreas fails to release insulin. Insulin is the hormone that regulates how much sugar is released from the liver into the blood. If there is not enough insulin, then the liver will continue to release more and more glucose into the blood, resulting in hyperglycemia.

Another cause of hyperglycemia is the lack of physical activity. If you do not exercise, your muscles will break down and use up the glucose stored in them. When the muscles cannot use the glucose, the body will turn to the liver to get it.

There are many ways to control diabetes. Some people use a low carb diet. Others use insulin injections. Some people use a combination of these methods.

The main reason why people who have diabetes should not eat too much sugar is because they run the risk of having a condition called hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is the opposite of hyperglycemia. When there is a lack of sugar in the blood, the body starts to release adrenaline. Adrenaline is a hormone that helps to raise the blood sugar levels.

If there is too much adrenaline in the blood, it will make you feel nervous, shaky, and weak. You may also experience sweating, anxiety, and even palpitations. This condition is called hypoglycemia.

If you have diabetes, it is important that you control your blood sugar levels. There are many ways to control your blood sugar levels. You should also take a look at what you are eating. Many processed foods contain large amounts of sugar.
