What Is Blood Glucose?

Blood sugar is one of the most important and vital nutrients that our body needs. It is also called as glucose. It is produced in the liver and it is then released into the blood stream. The blood carries the glucose to all the cells of our body. When the blood glucose level is low, we feel tired and weak. We also get hungry easily and feel thirsty. On the other hand, when the blood glucose level is high, we feel full and energetic. Our brain gets the glucose it needs for its proper functioning. When the blood glucose level drops, we feel dizzy and faint.

It is not possible to live without glucose. It is needed by the brain and the body cells. The human body does not produce it on its own. It has to be provided from outside sources. This can be in the form of food, drinks, or medicines. The blood glucose level varies depending upon the amount of food consumed. If there is an increase in the blood glucose level, it means that the food consumed was rich in carbohydrates. The insulin is released in response to this. Insulin helps in the conversion of glucose into energy.

The blood glucose level may also vary due to a change in the level of stress and anxiety. When the blood glucose level falls, we get hungry and feel thirst. In such situations, it is advised to eat something. It is also advised to avoid alcohol consumption.

When the blood glucose level is too high, it leads to obesity and diabetes. Obesity increases the chances of heart disease, cancer, stroke, etc. Diabetes is caused by either an absolute lack of insulin or an excess of insulin. Insulin is produced in the pancreas. When the blood glucose level rises, it stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin. The pancreas produces insulin to reduce the blood glucose level. Insulin is also produced by the body cells. It is used to transport glucose into the cell.

There are many factors that lead to diabetes. They include obesity, genetics, unhealthy eating habits, etc. Obesity increases the chances of developing diabetes. If you have a family history of diabetes, it is advisable to take precautions. You should try to maintain a healthy weight and eat a healthy diet. If you do not like taking medicines, you can use natural remedies. There are many herbs and spices that can help in controlling diabetes.
